bernard cazelles feeds mathematical models of Epidemics with social network data

April 8, 2020

Bernard Cazelles, professor at Sorbonne Université posted at iGLOBES, is partnering with Benjamin Roche , from the French Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) to apply cutting-edge statistical methods for measuring changes in transmission rates and individual responses to containment, based on social network data.

To this end, they develop mathematical models of the epidemics that capture the dynamics of transmission intensity and efficiency of containment measures within large French towns. They use the models to estimate correlations between changes in social media content, containment efficiency, and transmission rates. This research will yield a pipeline that can feed mathematical forecasting models with social media data in real time.
